Understanding Machine Hours At its core, a cost driver is any factor that is literally driving or influencing the cost of something. Over the past century, there has been a shift from single cost drivers to companies now reviewing several cost drivers. The combination of more sophistication in manufacturing and growth in customers needs and demands means that direct labor can no longer be the central cost driver. Overhead costs have increased drastically and have had a dramatic effect on the profit and competitiveness of manufacturing organizations. They account for a large percentage of a company’s total value and as a result, they have forced management to recognize its effects. â€Å"Manufacturing overhead, which includes all manufacturing costs other than direct materials and direct labor, has increased significantly due to automation, product diversity and product complexity† (p. 14-18,). The Shack by William P. Young - Book Review

The Bottom Line The Shack by William P. Young has become a phenomenon. This book -- originally written by Young for his kids -- was rejected by mainstream and Christian publishers alike. Young and friends started their own publishing house to produce it, and now there are more than one million copies in print and it has topped bestsellers charts for weeks. The Shack does not have amazing character depth, and the dialogue sometimes seems forced; however, it is a thought-provoking book that is a worth reading as an entry into thinking about suffering and Gods role in the world. Young - Book Review The Shack by William P. Young is a story about Mack, a man whose daughter is kidnapped and brutally murdered. A few years after her murder, Mack receives an invitation from God to meet Him at the shack where they found his daughters bloody clothes. Mack goes and works through the meaning of suffering as he spends the weekend with the Trinity, uniquely portrayed (God the Father is a large black woman, for instance). Why is The Shack so popular? Is it actually a must read? To the first question, I can only say that I think The Shack is asking some of the most important questions people can ask, and exploring the answers in a way that is very accessible. While reading, I understood its appeal -- these are the very questions that I wrestle with in my heart, and Young works through them in a very comforting way. As to whether The Shack is a must read, Id say, that depends. It sort of reminds me of the words, I love you. There is nothing especially unique about them, and they are extremely overused. From certain people or in certain situations, you are likely to dismiss or even be infuriated by hearing them uttered. Of course, from the right person, hearing them can be one of the most powerful experiences of your life. So with The Shack. This is a decidedly Christian answer in a somewhat shallow story with forced dialogue. Its not the best writing in the world, but I can easily see how if you read The Shack at the right moment, it has the power to change your life. I know Im still thinking about it, and I received enough gems from the novel to recommend it to others.

The American Revolution was an accelerated evolution rather than a cataclysmic revolution to a certain point. An accelerated evolution is a rapid process of growth and change, while a cataclysmic revolution is a sudden and violent event that brings great changes. The increased want for independence led the colonists to create a continental army and begin their fight for change. In 1775, Massachusetts was proclaimed to be in an open rebellion and British General Thomas Gage was ordered to put a stop to it. On April 18, 1775 General Gage dispatched 700 soldiers to capture colonial leaders and supplies at Concord. Fortunately, Paul Revere and other riders were able to warn the patriots of the attack and at dawn militiamen confronted the British troops first at Lexington and then Concord. After these battles 73 British soldiers were dead, 174 wounded and 26 were missing. Americans suffered too with 49 Massachusetts militiamen killed and 39 wounded. The battles at Lexington and Concord show a more radical way that the colonists chose to achieve independence from Britain. Good Hook For Romeo And Juliet Essay The character Juliet, in the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, is a young beautiful girl who falls in love with a young gentleman called Romeo. From the beginning we know that a tragic end lies await for these young lovers. I feel Juliet was caught in a vicious cycle of love and hate between the two rival houses of the Montague and the Capulets. She herself was not remotely to blame except for the fact she fell in love with Romeo. Romeo was a Montague, which forced them to keep their relationship a secret until the time was right. Romeo has just been shortly married to Juliet when he goes to see his best friend, Mercutio. When he finds Mercutio, he is in an argument with Tybalt a Capulet. Tybalt wishes to duel with Romeo. Romeo declines the offer, as he is the cousin of Juliet. (This is the first time anyone takes in consideration of Juliets feelings). Mercutio takes the place of Romeo but is slain by Tybalt. Romeo in a blind fury kills Tybalt: Either thou or I, or both must go with him However, this leaves Juliet an emotional wreck as one of her dearest cousins has been killed by her true love. Romeo did not take into account Juliets feelings and think about what he was doing. He of all people should have thought about the consequences and now he is banished from Verona: A dammed saint, an honourable villain When she first hears the news she curses Romeo: O what a beast was I to chide him! However, she changes her mind about him, as he is her true love. I think it was extremely unfair of Romeo to put Juliet through this anguish and grief due to one outburst of anger. When Juliets father tells her that she is to be married on Thursday she is upset and tells him that she is not going to marry Paris. I feel it is unfair for Juliet to be forced into marriage and if she does not, she will be castaway by her father. Your father is someone whom you can look to for support and love in no matter what circumstances. Juliets father, however, does not give it a second thought to discarded her if he does not get his own way: But now I see this one is too much, And that we have a curse in having her. Once this happens Juliet looks to her mother to comfort her after the dispute she has with her father. Her mother plainly says: Talk not to me, for Ill not speak a word. Again, I have great amount of sympathy for Juliet, as the person who gave birth to you should never turn their back on their child, as this should be the most precious person to them. After Romeo kills himself, as he thinks Juliet is dead, Juliet wakes to find Romeo.She is upset and in distress over the matter. Friar Lawrence enters the tomb to be greeted by a dead Romeo and a sobbing Juliet. The Friar begins to talk to Juliet when he is startled by a noise and runs away. This I feel was pure selfishness on Friar Lawrences behalf as he was only thinking of himself losing his job as he has been helping Romeo and Juliet: I hear some noise, lady come from that nest Come go, good Juliet, I dare no longer stay. Here we find Juliet once again out on a limb by herself to make a decision with no guidance as the Friar has fled and left her in confusion.
